Effective presentations

On 22.02.2016 the participants of the British Council project "English for Universities" held the dissemination seminar.

During the workshop for the 1st-3rd year students, a senior lecturer of the Department of Foreign languages Victoria Gubkina and an assistant of Department of Mineral Dressing Olena Berezniak shared the main findings and recommendations on Presentation Skills developed during training in Kyiv (10 – 15 January, 2016) provided by the British Council Ukraine within  “English for Universities” Project. 

At first, Olena Berezniak drew students' attention to the basic components that should be kept in mind by every specialist who wants to make successful presentation of his/her scientific ideas or business projects. For example, it involves the level of interaction with the audience, the number of questions, the ability to explain abstract concepts with clear examples etc.

Next Victoria Gubkina divided the students into groups of 4-5 people and invited them to choose five key points that, in their opinion, are essential for effective presentations. After working in groups students presented and explained the results of the discussion. Finally, the example of video presentation by Steven Jobs was analyzed. Students discussed the main points of his presentation technique and ways to make it more effective.
