to the Foreign Language (English, German, French) course
(for Specific Purposes)
The Foreign Language (English, German, French) course (for specific purposes) is obligatory for Bachelor’s degree students of all specialism areas trained in the NMU in all forms of study, who have A2 – B1 language proficiency level against CEF (2001) on entry.
The course is focused on hands-on practice in learning the foreign language with the overall aim to develop general and professionally-oriented communicative language competences at B1+ - B2 level.
Language skills, working knowledge of the language learnt, study and language strategies are developed in an
integrated way within the general topical and situational contexts specific for academic and professional areas of students. Self-education is an integral part of the course, where special attention is paid to students’ self-study, development of their self-organisation and self-awareness of their learning.
The course is modular in its structure. Each module develops generic job-related skills such as Socialising in Academic and Professional Environments; Searching and Processing Information for Specific Purposes; Giving Pesentations and Participating in Discussions; Communicating in Writing, Application Procedure.
