Foreign language for professionalpurposes
The course is aimed at developing professionally-oriented communicative competences in order to provide effective communication in academic and professional environments; advancing reading strategies and academic writing skills; improving students professional training.
By the end of the course students are expected to be able:
- to participate and react properly in professional talks, discussions, meetings and typical academic situations;
- to give accurate and detailed description of various professional issues;
- to prove different ideas supporting them with the necessary details and examples connected with future professional activity;
- to understand and respond properly to announcements, advertisements, instructions, etc;
- to understand authentic professional texts and comment on the information received;
- to extract necessary data from professional texts using different reading strategies;
- to explain, compare and present visuals;
- to understand and use necessary terminology;
- to understand details in instructions and specifications;
- to logically create different written texts using appropriate styles and formats;
- to write formal correspondence with the high level of accuracy;
- to deal with professional project planning;
- to prepare reports with high level of accuracy;
- to make efficient presentations in professionally modified environments.
